Somewhere Out There
While driving home from my post-quiz Sheetz break (with an extended conversation with some Arctic Damn Stingers) the song "Somewhere Out There," from "An American Tail" (1987), popped into my head. So I pulled it up on YouTube with lyrics and sang along, to several versions.

Here are the lyrics:

Somewhere Out There

written by James Horner, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil

Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

//And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star//

Only 1,450 miles away. A mere 21 hour drive. I've certainly driven further for far less payoff. We'll see if I need to make the trip some time.

In the meantime, that song from that movie is so far embedded in my psyche for what love and romance means. It came out when I was seven and lodged itself there, for good or ill.

Here's to hoping her silence, as in still no letters received, means she merely misplaced my address instead of that she's changed her mind...
